Vocalist Eileen Burns has become well known around northeast Ohio for fronting pop/jazz band Red Light Roxy. In this ensemble, she and some of the area’s best jazz musicians have some fun with the lighter side of jazz, performing ’30s-’50s-style dance music for swing dances and other events.
Burns is doing something a little different this week. She’s hosting a program called “Music & the Movies” at Nighttown. She’ll tell stories about classic films such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Swing Time, Singin’ in the Rain and Casablanca, and she and some of her band — pianist Joe Hunter, acoustic bassist Demetrius Steinmetz and sax player Dave Sterner — will perform beloved songs from the films.
Admission is $10.
