Heights Arts Features Seven Artists Who Work in Metal in “Materialized”

Fri 1/19 @ 6-9PM

Metal is all the rage these days in Northeast Ohio with the Akron Art Museum currently showing Heavy Metal, a group show of artists working in metal or materials made to look like metal, and now Materialized: Seven Artists Working in Metal, opening at Heights Arts Fri 1/19.

“Northeast Ohio has a long tradition of sculptors, blacksmiths, silversmiths and designers working in metal,” says exhibition curator Pamela Argentieri. “This community and its institutions continue to support the careers and education of its artists.”

Artists David Deming, Mark Hartung, Matthew Hollern, Jacquie Wynn Kennedy, Seth Nagelberg, Stephen Yusko and Argentieri will share their differing approaches to working with metal with works ranging from abstract sculpture to functional objects, using metal in both tradition and non-traditional ways. The show will include sketches, models and prototypes so viewers can see how the work developed.

The show will be on view through Sun 3/4.
