Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s “Think and Drink With the Extinct” Looks at Fermentation

Wed 1/17 @ 5PM

The monthly adults-only evening at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History is really adult-y this month.

The theme is “Beer and Beyond: Fermentation” and the sponsors are Great Lakes Brewing, Cleveland Whiskey and CLE Urban Winery, whose output will be available at the bar, along with snacks from CMNH’s Exploration: A Zack Bruell Restaurant.

The educational portion of the evening will focus on the science of fermentation, something that’s catching on like wildfire in northeast Ohio even outside its copious number of new breweries. Local fermentation-based businesses participating include Wake Robin Fermented Foods, Bearded Buch, Cleveland Kraut, Larder Master and Wild Foods Forager Jeremy Umansky, along with the sponsors. Come on and learn how it all works to transform barley and hops into beer, cucumbers into pickle and tea into that popular health food drink kombucha.

Admission is $8, free for CMNH members.
