A Cat Drinking Milk Is Art in Video Exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art

Through Mon 1/29

A cat drinking milk from a saucer. A couple of dogs looking through a fence. That probably sounds like what’s happening at your house every day, not the stuff of art.

But the Swiss artist duo of Peter Fischli and Peter Weiss, who collaborated from 1979 until the latter’s death in 2012, made art out of just such subjects. Their videos, the six-and-a-half minute 2001 Büsi (Kitty) & the half hour 2003 Hunde (Dogs), show these domestic animals engaged in this every-day behavior

Currently, both are on view at the Cleveland Museum of Art in the Video Project Room, Gallery 224b but only through Mon 1/29. After that you’ll have to stay home and stare at your own pets.
