Halleluia! It’s time once again to grab your score and put yourself in the choir with the annual Messiah sing-alongs.
Amateur singers are invited to tackle the Handel oratorio every year in Oberlin where Credo Music hosts its annual Sunday evening event. Credo artistic director Peter Slowik will lead the ensemble of amateurs along with professional musicians and solo vocalists. It’s free; a freewill offering will be take to benefit Family of Promise of Lorain County, which provides services to the homeless. You can also rent a score for $5 if you don’t have one,and if you register in advance, rental is free.
Then on Wednesday, head down to Trinity Cathedral where its weekly Brownbag Concert will feature a chorus of YOU. The cathedral’s music director Todd Wilson conducts, and again there will be professional musicians from the Trinity Chamber Orchestra and soloists to lean on for support.
Unlike most weeks, there will be no lunch served during the concert —you can’t eat and sing! However, there will be a $15 holiday luncheon afterward next door at Elements Bistro if you’re so inclined. The concert is free. It’s the last concert in the fall Brownbag series; the concerts resume Wed 2/6.
