It’s something new and different each year when Akron musician Ryan Humbert organizes his annual Holiday Extravaganza for charity.
For its 9th year, it’s a “Very Country Christmas,” as his latest ensemble, Shooter Sharp & the Shootouts, which specializes in a traditional country/honky-tonk sound, headlines the event to raise money for Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s Muffins for Mammograms program. They’ll play holiday favorites, classic country covers and their own original tunes.
Joining the regular lineup of Humbert on guitar and vocals, guitarist Brian Poston, pedal steel player Al Moss, drummer Dylan Gomez, bassist Ryan McDermott and Ryan’s longtime harmony vocalist Emily Bates is Kent’s David Mayfield on mandolin and banjo. The performances also include a live auction to raise more money for Muffins for Mammograms.
It takes place at the Akron Civic Theatre in its intimate onstage cabaret set-up. Tickets are $20 or $35 for two.
