Neo Dance Theatre Tailors Its 40s Nutcracker to Lorain County at the Stocker Arts Center

Fri 12/15 & Sat 12/16 @ 7:30PM

Sun 12/17 @ 2PM

Once again, the creative Northeast Ohio ensemble Neos Dance Theatre takes that hoary holiday favorite, The Nutcracker, and does its own thing with it, in addition to exquisite dancing, that is.

Its A 1940s Nutcracker is set in northern Ohio during the World War II era, with projection mapping technology surrounding the dancers with scenes and places of the era. Its performances at the Stocker Arts Center’s Hoke Theatre in Elyria will feature locations that would have been familiar to residents of the then-very rural Lorain County in those years, such as the Lorain Palace theater, the Light House, the Steel Yard and the Women’s Club. (The ensemble is also presenting versions tailored to the communities of Fiindlay and Mansfield.)

“This is much larger than just The Nutcracker,” says Neos artistic director Bobby Wesner. “This is about Lorain County, and our entire region. We’ve seen the value these annual productions bring to communities both culturally and economically and I feel wholeheartedly that our region is deserving of its own unique retelling of this story.”

Tickets range from $10-$35.
