Local music lovers are already familiar with rising young violinist Tessa Lark, who has performed twice this year with City Music Cleveland. She’s a Kentucky native who attended the New England Conservatory, and has won or placed in several major international competitions. In addition to her mastery of classical music, with which she debuted at Carnegie Hall earlier this year, she likes to perform jazz and bluegrass music (she’s from the Bluegrass state, after all!), giving her music a range that’s not that common among classical musicians.

She’s headed back our way to perform for Oberlin College’s Artist Recital Series November 19 with Andrew Armstrong on piano at Finney Chapel. Her program includes music by Richard Strauss, Manuel Ponce/Jascha Heifetz, Rojas/Lark, Maurice Ravel and Bela Bartok.

Tickets are $35. She’ll also conduct a master class with conservatory students on Sat 11/18 that’s free and open to the public.
