A Tuneful Smackdown at the Cleveland Institute of Music

No pressure, kids, but…ARRGH! The Jean L. Petitt Memorial Music Scholarship is a competition is open to instrumentalists, vocalists and dancers up to age 18 that will allow some lucky young winner to not only get $500 but also solo with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra during one of its Severance Hall concerts, as determined by conductor Carl Topilow.

Applicants must be current residents enrolled in schools in Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Portage, Summit, Medina or Lorain counties. Contenders must provide their own accompaniments, and the audition piece cannot be more than 10 minutes in length. The competition will be held on Sunday for three hours in room 217 of the Cleveland Institute of Music. Contest times will be assigned in advance; applicants are notified by email or phone.

Applications and required permissions from parents/guardians must be received no later than Fri 11/17 at 5pm.
