SPACES Gallery Reception Introduces New Winter Shows

Fri 11/17 @ 6-9PM

SPACES is turning over its galleries again with a new set of shows for its winter season. They include newly commissioned work by Long Island City, NY’s Heidi Neilson and Sara Black & Amber Ginsburg of Chicago and The Vault curated by Clevelander Qian Li.

Black & Ginsburg’s 7000 Marks is a play on Joseph Bueys’ 7000 Oaks, in which the artists reflect on how global trade has infected oak trees with pathogen dubbed ‘Sudden Oak Death.” They fashioned 7,000 pencils from one such tree which will be used for activities during the run of the show.

For Currents, Qian Li reached out to three Chinese artists who work with experimental film techniques to create videos reflecting economic, social and cultural changes taking place in China.

All the artists will be present at the free public opening reception. There’s an afterparty somewhere nearby in the Hingetown after so stick around and make some new artsy friends!
