Rocky River Chamber Music Society Presents the Dorian Wind Quintet

Mon 11/13 @ 7:30PM

The Dorian Wind Quintet is one of those legacy chamber ensembles which maintains a musical tradition across decades and many member changes. Formed in 1961 at Tanglewood, it was the first wind quintet to perform at Carnegie Hall in 1981 and has performed around the world.

One of its longtime key missions has been commissioning new works for its combination of instruments — flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn — by such composers as Luciano Berio, Joan Tower, and George Perle.

When the ensemble performs at the West Shore Unitarian Church for the Rocky River Chamber Music Society, they’ll perform one of their recent commissions, Suite for Wind Quintet by Amanda Harberg. They’ll also be playing music by Bach and Dvorak. As always, RRCMS concerts are free.
