Slavic Village Development Celebrates the Neighborhood’s Renewal at the Magalen

Thu 9/21 @ 5:30-8:30PM

The last 15 years or so have been a roller coaster ride for Cleveland’s southside Slavic Village.

The neighborhood went from being a slightly faded but still vital ethnic neighborhood to being famously “ground zero” for the national foreclosure crisis to being on a tentative comeback, with some new development (and a stunning new streetscape on the major thoroughfare Fleet Street), some new hip businesses joining old-school ones, and some challenges remaining.

Slavic Village Development is celebrating the new energy and future potential on Fleet at one of those new businesses, the Magalen art space. There’ll be appetizers, beer and wine, along with awards recognizing people who have been key players in reviving the neighborhood.

Tickets are $50, or just $35 if you live in the area, zip codes 44105 or 44127.
