PHOTOSTREAM: Skunkfest in North Ridgeville by Anastasia Pantsios

Sat 9/9

The annual Skunkfest, taking place in South Central Park in North Ridgeville, brings together pet skunk owners from across the region, as well as animal lovers of all stripes who just enjoy seeing them. These aren’t skunks taken from the wild to be pets; they’re bred to be domesticated. And they come in many colors in addition to the familiar black & white.

While skunk owners paraded their adorable critters, some in cute costumes, there were other animals to look at too, including ferrets and exotic birds, courtesy of rescue groups that specialize in them. And rescues dedicated to more familiar animals — cats and dogs — also had tables offering information about their charges, and other tables offered animal-related products and gifts for sale.
