Pop/jazz vocalist Mel Torme was known as “The Velvet Fog,” a reference to his smooth musical style which he applied to standards from the Great American Songbook. His peak career years came in the late 40s when he had several chart hits including a #1 with “Careless Hands.” (He also co-wrote “The Christmas Song” — chestnuts roasting on an open fire etc.”)
The Music Box Supper Club devotes its weekly musical brunch to Torme at “The Velvet Brunch.” Music will be provided by the Ernie Krivda Quintet; vocals will be courtesy of Vince Mastro. Admission is $10. Brunch buffet is $18; kids 12 and under $8.
