Brazilian/American Jazz Trio Choro De La Pra Ca Plays at the BOP STOP

Fri 9/15 @ 8PM

There are a couple of good reasons to head over to Ohio City’s Hingetown neighborhood tonight for its special “date night.” (You can also go by yourself.)

First, you can drop in at SPACES Gallery to tour its current exhibits and have some light refreshments. Then you can head next door to catch some music from Choro De Lá Pra Cá, a trio of musicians from Brazil and Chicago, who mix classical music and jazz with Brazilian choro and folk music.

The group emerged in 2014 when American flute player Julie Koidin, whose background is in classical music, travelled to Brazil, one of many such trips she took to the country to learn about their music and culture. There she hooked up with two young Brazilians Caio Padilha and Diogo Guanabara to form this ensemble, which performs both their own arrangements of traditional material and original pieces.

Tickets are $15.
