Breaking Barriers

As sure as the waves will crash on Edgewater Beach, open your eyes and you’ll see our artists and entrepreneurs breaking through to new levels of engagement.

From the free Kid’s Chess Fest at CPL, to Derek Hess & Marty Geramita’s Acting Out! Fest, to CMA’s Chalk Fest, to the Cleveland Eats Culinary Festival.

Writers break through this week, whether it’s Laura DeMarco’s Lost Cleveland or Ken Schneck’s Seriously, What Am I Doing Here, or James Renner on unsolved CLE mysteries.

Throw out the rule book: Do bourbon and coffee mix? Discussions of race and football? Craft beers and nature? Vinyl and vintage clothing? As it turns out, most barriers were made to be broken. –Thomas Mulready

She’ll spend an afternoon at Tremont’s Prosperity Social Club talking about the book and Cleveland’s fraught relationship with its past. Sat 9/16.
