Reap the Benefit Showcases Refugee Work at Ohio City Farm

Sat 8/26 @ 7PM

As a virulent tide of hatred against immigrants sweeps the U.S., it’s time for good people to push back. And while refugees have been painted as dangerous and unwelcome by some in some high places, it’s time to learn their real story.

Refugee Response tells that real story. The Cleveland organization helps to resettle refugees fleeing from countries around the world, providing them with the education and training they need to become productive citizens of northeast Ohio.

One of their projects is their farm at Ohio City Farm, a block from the West Side Market. There they train people who were farmers in their native countries to adapt those skills to this climate, with the goal of helping them become self-sufficient.

Support their work — and be surrounded by it — at their annual Reap the Benefit evening at the Ohio City Farm. There 18 local restaurants and caterers will prepare a tasting menu made with produce from the farm. There’ll also be cocktails, live music and tours of the farm so visitors can learn and see firsthand what refugees can accomplish.

The VIP reception is from 6-7pm; tickets are $150. The main event starts at 7; tickets are $100. There’s also a raffle, for which you can buy tickets whether you attend the benefit or not.
