Open-Air PechaKucha at the Rock Hall Plaza Showcases Arts Activists and Creative Clevelanders

Fri 8/25 @ 7PM

Many Clevelanders are familiar with PechaKucha by now. These evenings feature a lineup of local doers and creators, each of whom prepares a slide show featuring 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds, while they talk about their work, their projects, their ideas.

They have taken place in venues all over town. The 31st edition will take place on the plaza of the rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum at dusk (weather permitting), providing guests with a backdrop of the Cleveland skyline as they listen to local movers and shakers talk about what excites them. (In case of bad weather, it will take place inside the Rock Hall).

Presentations include arts patron/collector Fred Bidwell, who is leading next year’s big international Front Triennial; Zygote Press executive director and arts scene mover and shaker Liz Maugans; Amanda King, founder of Shooting Without Bullets, a project to get kids involved with photography to deflect from violence; Rock Hall visitor engagement specialist Bruce Stacey II; and six more.

Doors open at 7:00pm, with presentations starting at 8:45. It’s free, but if you register early you can win one of 50 screenprint posters. It’s a good idea to bring a lawn chair unless you don’t mind standing or sitting on the hard ground.
