Local Rockers the Jack Fords & the Commonwealth Wrap Up Summer in the City at the Rock Hall

The Jack Fords

Wed 8/30 @ 6PM

Doesn’t it always seem like summer goes too fast? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has had one of its most jam-packed summers of free, outdoor music this year but if you want to catch some, better hurry. The Rock Hall’s Summer in the City concerts on their plaza wind down this week.

The concert features a pair of local bands inspired by classic rock artists of the past. The Jacks Fords, featuring ubiquitous singer/songwriter/guitarist Brent Kirby, guitarist Bobby Latin, Ed Sotelo on bass and Greg Campolieti on drums, draw their inspiration from cranking, dirty roots rockers such as the Rolling Stones and good old 50s-style rock. They’ve been doing it since 2005, dropping three albums in the process.

The Commonwealth, together since 2009, lace their dense, bluesy music with moody, atmospheric touches in the spirit of late 60s ensembles like Led Zeppelin and Cream. The trio released its fourth studio album, The Victory Garden, earlier this year.

Although the shows are free, you can also buy a “guest list” upgrade in advance online with special perks. There are food trucks and a beer garden located outside on the plaza as well.
