“Guys With Guitars” Play Jazzy Acoustic Music at BOP STOP & Stocker Arts Center

Thu 8/24 @ 8PM

Fri 8/25 & Sat 8/26 @ 8PM

Guitarist Doug Wood and bassist Darren Frate have been playing together, like, forever. They were bandmates in jazzy folk-rock group Watts Gnu in the late 80s/early-mid 90s. And they always seem to keep reconnecting for projects, most recently in Cellocentric, while doing their own things. Wood, for instance, has just released a new CD, The Road Home, and of course, Frate plays on it.

Like Wood, Patrick Woods, who is from north central Indiana, specializes in instrumental acoustic fingerstyle guitar. He’s been performing more than a decade and released several albums of his music.

The three musicians are mingling strings for a series of dates they’re calling “Guys With Guitars,” where they’ll perform their own original compositions along with their distinctive interpretations of well-known tunes by the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkle and more.

They’ll start out at the Bop Stop on Thursday evening. Tickets are $10. Then on Friday and Saturday they’ll head west to Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center where they’ll perform as part of the Studio Sessions series in the intimate Cirigliano Studio Theatre. Tickets are $20.
