If you are a vegetable gardener yourself, you probably have more tomatoes than you know what to do with right now. And yet, who can help but be tempted by the profusion of locally grown tomatoes of all kinds that are overflowing area farmers markets?
That’s why the Countryside Farmers Market at Howe Meadow in Cuyahoga Valley National Park has its annual tomato tasting. Visitors have the chance to sample tomatoes of all varieties, colors and sizes, varieties they didn’t grow — and maybe think about what they’ll plant next year. There’ll also be a salsa sampling from Sidekicks salsa which will offer things you can make with salsa.
The market and the tasting are free. Crafty Mart will also be at the market with local artisan vendors to browse so there’s a double incentive to go this week.
