The 2005 film Kinky Boots doesn’t have a famous cast but it does have a flamboyant based-on-a-true-story premise. It revolves around a struggling British shoe factory whose fortunes are turned around when the owner meets drag queen Lola and decides to move from manufacturing men’s dress shoes to making footwear for drag queens. (The film also spawned a Broadway musical with songs by Cyndi Lauper).
Check it out this week at the Cleveland Museum of Art. What else do you have to do on a Tuesday afternoon? (There’s also a Friday evening screening for those who have a day job). Admission is $10.
