Celebrate Cleveland Labor Unions at the AFL-CIO Picnic in Parma

Sat 9/2 @ 10AM-4PM

It is deeply weird to hear calls for bringing back good-paying manufacturing jobs while at the same time, labor unions continue to be under heightened attack. How on earth do people think those manufacturing jobs got those high wages and great benefits? It wasn’t because corporate owners were so kind and generous.

Never has the labor union movement been needed more than now, as income inequality in the U.S. has grown to an unprecedented disparity and politicians at all levels are attacking the idea of a decent livable wage.

If you would like to show your solidarity with the labor movement in Cleveland and have some fun too, come on out to James Day Park in Parma for the Fifth Annual Labor Day Festival hosted by the North Shore AFL-CIO Federation of Labor. You can talk to representatives of various unions who will have booths, grab some food and drink at the concessions, listen to live music, bid on gift baskets and rub elbows with schmoozing politicians and candidates. Bring the family too — there’s a whole bunch of stuff for kids, including balloon artist Dave, face painting clowns and shows by Jungle Bob.

It’s free and open to the public.
