When it comes to touring Jewish standup comedians, Sarge Pickman isn’t just your average Borscht Belt headliner. The hypenate entertainer/philanthropist makes his first Cleveland-area appearance at the Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple in Beachwood.
Born at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, Florida (oy veh), Pickman is both Afro-American and Jewish. And his comedy, that he labels “chai IQ,” skews to his particular multi-ethnic POV of colored kid who grew up idolizing Don Rickles killing the crowds at Grossinger’s. Pickman will also be selling/signing copies of his autobiography Black Boychik after the show.
His opening act is Daniel Roberts, a multiple winner of “Cleveland’s Funniest Rabbi” contest. Tickets are $36 general admission, with discounts for group sales.
