Oberlin/Cleveland Orchestra Cooper Competition Spotlights Talented Teen Violinists

Sat 7/15-Fri 7/21

The Cooper International Competition was launched by the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Orchestra in 2010 to offer a showcase for high school-aged musicians, offering them a chance to win cash prizes and the chance to perform at Severance Hall with the Cleveland Orchestra.

The competition spotlights pianists and violinists in alternate years and this year the violinists step up. Participants compete in the three rounds starting Sat 7/15 at Oberlin’s Warner Concert Hall, with the concerto finals on Fri 7/21 with the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall. All rounds are open to the public; the rounds at Oberlin are free. For tickets to the final round at Severance Hall, go to clevelandorchestra.com.
