Vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Heather Maloney is based in Massachusetts, an area that seems to have figured prominently in most waves of folk performers and acoustic singer/songwriters.
Her musical reach is broader than most others of her genre however. She’s classically trained, with a background in improvisational jazz and classical Indian vocal music as well. She’s also grounded her music in the study of meditation.
She’ll be performing at Riverdog Barn near Oberlin, a lovely outdoor setting that should enhance her thoughtful, conscious music. She’ll perform an “intermedia” event with guitarist Ryan Hommel with projected images and lyrics that invite audience members to vote on their favorites and help decide which will be on her upcoming album.
Opening act is local gal Emily Keener, a Riverdog Barn favorite. Admission is a $15 donation at the gate, students $5, kids 12 and under free. It’s BYOB as usual, although Lorenzo’s wood-fired pizza truck will be on site for those who’d rather buy something.
