Group Convenes to Celebrate and Protect Geauga Parks

Sat 7/22 @ 2PM

The White House isn’t the only place you’ll find autocratic elected officials uninterested in hearing what the public thinks or doing what benefits the community.  It goes on at the most local levels.

For instance, out in Geauga County a citizen group called Protect Geauga Parks has taken exception with the way their parks are run and with their perception that meetings are being scheduled to minimize citizen input.

They describe their mission: “We represent the strong majority of people who want common sense and good governance to prevail in our parks. We understand that the protection of nature is vital to our health and well-being. We are Friends of Geauga Parks. We know that the land CONSERVED within our parks underpins the environmental health of the entire community.”

Today they’re hosting a Geauga Parks birthday celebration with cake and beverages so local people can celebrate the beauty of their parks and share their feelings about what’s going on in a short listening and feedback session. “The Park Board may not want to hear what you have to say… But WE DO!” they declare.

It takes place at the Water C. Best Sunset Shelter in Chardon. It’s free.
