What’s more romantic than an evening of classical music at Blossom Music Center, with a picnic blanket spread out on the lawn to sit on as you two nuzzle over glasses of wine? How about an evening featuring “Romantic Rachmaninoff,” with music by that sumptuous composer of the late romantic era (late 19th/early 20th centuries), Sergei Rachmaninoff?
Although he was known as a pianist — and his piano concertos are familiar even to the most casual classical music fans — it’s his Symphony No. 2, written in 1906-7, the Cleveland Orchestra will be playing tonight. But never fear: there’s topnotch piano music too. Also on the program is Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24, featuring young French pianist David Fray (pictured). Vasily Petrenko conducts the evening. Tickets are $24-$89.
