Chicago Band with Syrian-American Singer Headlines Benefit for Syria at the Grog Shop

Thu 7/20@ 8PM

Bassel Almadani, the vocalist for Chicago-based neo-soul/funk ensemble Bassel & the Supernaturals, is Syrian-American. And, with family still back in the old country, the murderous civil war there has affected him deeply. It echoes through his lyrics and has pushed him and the band to use their music for humanitarian purposes. They’ve used the campaign for their new album Elements to raise awareness of the crisis in Syria and money for those impacted.

Here in Northeast Ohio, the group will headline a benefit for Syria at the Grog Shop, where they’ll be joined by Akron’s lively instrumental soul group the Admirables and singer/songwriter Gretchen Pleuss. Tickets re $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
