Celebrate a Dubious Snake Legend at Peninsula Python Day

Sat 7/15 @ 1:30PM

There are some unusual celebrations around northeast Ohio but Peninsula Python Day has to be one of the oddest.

The story — which may or may not be truth — alleges that in 1944 a python escapes from a circus trailer traveling through the Cuyahoga Valley and was on the loose in Peninsula all that summer. That python is now Peninsula’s official mascot.

For Peninsula Python Day, residents and businesses decorate with pythons, stores and organizations such as the Peninsula Arts Academy and the Peninsula Library & Historical Society will have python-related activities and information. From 1-4pm you can see and touch real pythons at G.A.R. Hall.

The parade steps off from Terry Lumber at the corner of Riverview Road and Route 303 at 1:30pm, lead by a 100-foot python.
