AXS TV Airs Special With Tommy Shaw & Cleveland’s Contemporary Youth Orchestra

Sun 7/9 @ 10PM

One of the special things Cleveland’s Contemporary Youth Orchestra is known for is its performances with various pop and classic rock stars. Its 115 area high school musicians have collaborated with Pat Benatar, Graham Nash, Jon Anderson, Styx, Ben Folds and Styx frontman Tommy Shaw, who performed with the ensemble in May 2016 at Cleveland State University’s Waetjen Auditorium.

That concert was filmed for a TV special Sing for the Day! Tommy Shaw and the Contemporary Youth Orchestra which airs Sun 7/9 @ 10pm on AXS TV.

“Ten years after STYX and CYO performed for the first time together, I’ve joined forces with them again, this time for a solo acoustic symphony show!,” explains Shaw in the show’s press release.

Shaw plays guitar and mandolin while CYO backs him in a set of Styx hits and Shaw solo material, including “Too Much Time On My Hands,” “Blue Collar Man,” “Renegade,” “Diamond” and “Sing for the Day.”

Enjoyed so much seeing Tommy and Liza again. Also great to see and hear violinist Lavinia Pavlish. Can I get a disk of the performance? Also I would like to financially support CYO since I first saw their performance with Styx in 2006.
