While Akron’s Lock 3 with its big stage, hosts a summer of festivals and tribute bands, the smaller, adjacent Lock 4 hosts low-key jazz and blues evenings. You can bring your lawn chair and listen to music in the intimate space, backed by waterfalls, tucked behind downtown buildings including the Akron Civic Theatre.
The weekly Wednesday concerts kick off this week with Cleveland’s John J. Saxx Watkins, an alumni of the Cleveland School of the Arts. He’s a versatile player whose music encompassed jazz, R&B, pop and fusion. The concerts run through August 30, and they’re free.
