Akron Symphony’s Parks Tour Starts at Hardesty Park

Sun 7/23 @ 7:30PM

The Akron Symphony kicks off its big tour this weekend — of Akron Parks. It all starts at Hardesty Park where they’ll debut the program of familiar pieces including John Williams’ Suite from Jaws and March from Superman, as well as Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite for all the little aspiring ballerinas in the audience. They’ll also play The Paper Man, by 17-year-old Harrison J. Collins of Texas, who was a finalist in the 2017 National Young Composers Challenge.

And if you have a used musical instrument on hand you don’t need or play anymore, bring it along to donate to the Salvation Army Music Conservatory. But before you do that, ASO music director/conductor Christopher Wilkins will have everyone with an instrument join the orchestra to play the final note of the evening.

The orchestra will play at four different parks; all the concerts are free.
