Turkish-Style Drummer Raquy Danzinger Performs at Kent’s North Water Street Gallery and the Music Box in Cleveland

Istanbul-based Raquy Danziger is known for her expertise in Turkish style darbuka drumming, as well as the 12-string King Kemenche Tarhu. With her quartet Raquy Danziger’s Düm, she performs music from Turkey, Iraq, India and Egypt, with a swirl of funk, hip hop and salsa blended in. She’ll be performing a show at the Music Box, followed by a rooftop drum circle that’s free to concertgoers. Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.

The following night, the ensemble will perform at Standing Rock Cultural Arts’ North River Street Gallery in Kent, where she’ll do a workshop in the darbuka Turkish Split Hand Technique at 6pm and the band will perform in concert at 8. Concert tickets are $15; workshop and concert are $30.
