Summer Solstice

Things are turning around. We’ve reached the point where the pendulum starts to swing back. You felt it start to happen when all eyes turned to our region last summer. And now everything is different.

We’re all jazzed upfor the 38th Tri-C JazzFest, Dan Wilson’s live recording at Blu, and violinist Maureen Choi at BOP STOP as well. We’re ready to stay out of doors all day long at Mulberry Creek’s herb fair, the Countryside Farmers Market at Howe Meadow, the Akron Honey Company’s Market Day, and Steve Dettlebach at Chautauqua in Chagrin. The outdoor fun continues at night with violin & harp at Happy Days Lodge, Akron Art Museum’s Downtown@Dusk, or swing dancing under the stars at PHS with Get Hep Swing.

And it might be the perfect year to celebrate the solstice today dancing to Carlos Jones at CVNP, or on a sunset hike and campfire at South Chagrin Reservation, or right on the transcendent Solstice Steps in Lakewood Park where this photo was taken a day or so ago. Did you happen to see David Bowie perform live in Cleveland? Tell us your memories, then catch our show next week to hear more. Time to turn things around. –Thomas Mulready
