Appropriately during Pride month, the June community outreach series at women’s health clinic Preterm, which looks at a range of social justice issues, will look at “Policy and Pride in Ohio.”
As many pointed out during the now-settled fight of marriage equality, in some states such as Ohio, a same-sex couple getting married could trigger discrimination and job loss, because their right to be free of discrimination in employment, housing and accommodations is not protected in this state.
State representative Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood) has once again introduced a bill, now called HB 160, to remedy this, as she has in each of the past seven years she’s been in the legislature, which has never moved beyond the House. Learn about what this bill would do and what arguments the “religious freedom” advocates are deploying against it. Yes, they are obsessing about bathrooms again.
