Legendary comic actor Charlie Chaplin was himself an immigrant who arrived in the U.S. in his mid 20s to advance his film career. He made his 1917 film The Immigrant, featuring his iconic character “The Little Tramp,” three years later.
The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, as part of its ongoing programming about immigration, will screen the silent film and host a discussion about the flood of immigration happening at the time of the film and how it relates to what’s going on in contemporary America. Cleveland Cinemas director of marketing David Huffman, Director of Marketing with Cleveland Cinemas, and Dr. Sean Martin, associate curator of Jewish History at the Western Reserve Historical Society will lead the discussion.
Admission is $8; popcorn is free! Seating is limited so call 216-593-0575 or go here to register.
