Dobama Theatre’s ‘How to Be a Respectable Junkie’ Addresses the Costs of Heroin Use

Thu 6/15-Sun 7/2

With the enormous amount of public attention now focused on drug addiction and overdoses, Dobama Theatre’s world premiere How To Be a Respectable Junkie, written by Cleveland-based playwright Greg Vovos, who is known for tackling difficult social issues in his work, couldn’t be more timely.

“Based on true events,” they tell us, it follows a heroin addict in his 30s who decides to commit suicide to spare the people around him. But first he makes a video for other heroin users on “How To Be a Respectable Junkie.” The play, directed by Nathan Motta, stars Christopher Bohan. It runs Thursday-Sundays through Sun 7/2. Tickets are $29-$32.
