Cleveland’s New Orchestra 19, Specializing in 19th-Century Music, Holds Its First Benefit

Sat 6/24 @ 7PM

Orchestra 19 is a new ensemble in Northeast Ohio, focusing on the instruments and music of the 19th century, including orchestra, band, military and harmonie music.

It’s still in its fledgling stage, so it needs to prove its appeal to potential funders. So it’s hosting its first annual benefit performance, “Salon d’Orchestre,” at First Baptist Church n Cleveland Heights. The program will include 19th-century chamber and solo works by composers such as Nicholas-Charles Bochsa, Jean-Baptiste Duvernoy, Franz Antoine Hoffmeister and Jean-Baptiste Metoyen, performed on such period instruments as simple flute, strings, serpent and natural horn.

Admission is $20; premium tickets, which include a pre-concert reception with hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and preferred seating, are $30.
