Cleveland-Born Jazz Sax Star Joe Lovano Comes Home for Two Nighttown Shows

Thu 6/15 @ 8PM

Fri 6/16 @ 8:30PM

Saxophone player Joe Lovano is one of the most successful jazz musicians to come out of Cleveland. The son of tenor sax player Tony “Big T” Lovano who was a familiar face in northeast Ohio lounges and nightclubs for decades, Lovano left Cleveland after high school to attend Berklee College and later settled in New York. Since he began his professional career in the early ’70s, he’s played with a who’s who of top musicians, recorded dozens of albums and has won a Grammy.

He’ll be playing two nights at Nighttown with two different groups. One Thursday his “Hometown Sessions” concert will feature local players Eddie Baccus Sr on organ, Bob Ferrazza on guitar and brother Anthony Lovano on drums. On Friday, he’ll play with a different quartet, also composed of local players: Anthony Fucco on piano, Aidan Plank on acoustic bass and Carmen Castaldi on drums.

Tickets for each night are $30.
