The July 4th “Salute to America” by the Blossom Festival Band at Blossom Music Center is a longstanding tradition.
Led as usual by Loras John Schissel who has served as the band’s director since 1998, the ensemble will roll out a predictable program — meaning if they didn’t do this material, the audience would be enraged — of patriotic songs including an Armed Forces salute, Sousa marches, Broadway hits and — yes, yes, you know what’s coming next! It’s the 1812 Overture, concluding the program to accompany fireworks (weather permitting) without which the audience would probably riot.
