Westlake Libraries Presents Its ‘Fashion Week’ With Three Local Style Experts

Wed 5/3 @ 7PM

Thu 5/4 @ 7PM

Sat 5/6 @ 1PM

Bookworms may not have a reputation for being stylish and libraries may not spring to mind as fashion hubs. But that isn’t stopping the Westlake Porter Public Library from hosting its own Fashion Week.

On Wednesday evening, Baldwin Wallace University costume designer Charlotte Yetman, whose work was seen recently in the production of Lizzie at PlayhouseSquare, will talk about how a stage designer approaches researching eras and creating designs that help audiences understand the characters. She’ll be bringing along some of her costumes and sketches.

Then on Thursday, CoolCleveland’s own fashion maven, Dru Thompson (pictured), of Dru Christine Fabrics and Design in the Waterloo Arts District, will be talking on the topic “Envision a Fashionable You: Style ideas for spring 2017. If you’ve ever been in her shop — and you should stop in — you’ll know she has plenty of such ideas. She’ll help you put your wardrobe together and turn you into a fashion star.

Finally, on Saturday, Kelly Velikonya Patel, store manager at Kate Spade Beachwood, will talk about what it’s like to work at Fashion Week New York, Miami and Cleveland in “Fashion: How the Pros Do It.” She’ll share her own takes on current fashion trends as well.

All the presentations are free but registration is required. Go here or call 440-871-2600
