Photographer Steve Mastroianni had a studio and gallery on West 14th Street in Tremont for many years, one of the last galleries in the formerly gallery-heavy neighborhood.
Mastroianni pulled up stakes and has now re-surfaced in an emerging neighborhood, Slavic Village. He’s restored a space on Fleet Street right next door to the new artisan butcher shop Saucission for his new studio Silver Scuro.
This weekend, coinciding with Slavic Village’s Rooms to Let: CLE he’ll be holding an open house. He’s inviting visitors to participate in a portrait collage being created for the occasion. And on Sunday, Mastroianni will stepping outside the gallery when the band he plays with, Malphonia, does a sidewalk performance of what it describes as “acoustic renderings of popular tunes spanning the centuries in a casual, rock-star neutral environment, with occasional forays into otherwise odd time signatures.”
