Cleveland Public Theatre’s Danceworks Kicks Off Another Season

Cleveland Public Theatre’s annual five-weekend showcase of local dance ensembles and visiting troupes returns through June 3 in the James Levin Theatre. It starts this week with Cleveland’s 15-year-old Antaeus Dance and Travesty Dance Company, which launched at Case Western Reserve in 1997 and has performed all over the world. The evening will feature original works directed and choreographed by Antaeus’ founder Joan Meggitt and Travesty co-founder Kimberly Karpanty that include dance, music, theater and film.

In all, nine companies will perform over the five weekends including Verb Ballets with Taiwan’s Bodyedit (05/11-13); Inlet Dance Theatre (5/18-20); Elu Dance Company & Across the Board (5/25-27); and Morrisondance & Alpha (6/1-3).

Tickets are $12-$30.
