Activists March Against Monsanto at Market Square Park

Sat 5/20 @ noon-2PM

The name “Monsanto” has come to be a sort of stand-in for a host of environmental evils. The name of the giant agrochemical conglomerate was slung around as an attack (“ties to Monstanto!”) during the 2016 elections, usually directed at the wrong candidate (Surprisingly, the candidate with the closest “tie” to Monsanto was Bernie Sanders, whose campaign manager Tad Devine’s law firm represented the company).

In any case, the international grassroots movement March Against Monsanto, which opposes GMO crops as well as use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, holds its 5th annual event on March 20, with marches all over the world. The one in Cleveland takes place at Market Square Park, across from the West Side Market, which is undoubtedly selling some GMO crops.
