The Litterbugz Cleveland Clean-Up has such a modest goal: they plan to remove ALL the litter in Cleveland in a single day.

Well, they’re going to make a strong run at it anyway, with the 4th annual Great Cleveland Clean-Up. There are 25 locations where volunteers can meet up with event coordinators, get a short orientation and then go out in groups of five to remove litters from parks, sidewalks, playgrounds, neighborhoods, and highway exits and entrances. Groups will work from 12:30-3:30pm. To register yourself, your family or your group, go here.

If three hours of picking up litter doesn’t make you feel you’ve done enough for the local environment, head over to the east side and join a cleanup and invasive plant pull crew for the annual Doan Brook Spring Stream Sweep. It takes place at Shaker Heights Parklands on Saturday and Rockefeller Park on Sunday. On both days, you’ll be picking up litter such as plastic bags, bottles, food wrappers, Styrofoam and coffee cups, to prevent them from washing into Lake Erie and contaminating our drinking water, and pulling invasive garlic mustard from around the stream as you go.

On Saturday, volunteers will meet either at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes or the corner of East 127th Street and Fairhill Road. On Sunday they’ll meet at the Rockefeller Park Lagoon Gazebo near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and East 105th Street. Dress to work; gloves, trash bags and refreshments will be provided.
