We always think about the long game. Maybe it’s the way we were raised. Short-term suffering, long-term gain. Sometimes I wish our leaders did the same. Why are we using hundreds of millions of tax dollars on new upholstery for our stadiums instead of for our students? We won’t be mentioning our baseball team at all in CoolCleveland until the mascot’s gone and the team name is history.

In the meantime, this week offers a number of immediate wins: an all-day polka party, Shakespeare inside & out, an Eggstravaganza for the kids at GLSC, a monthly food swap in Downtown Akron, an Italian film fest at Strosacker, and CoolCleveland writer Charles Cassady speaking at the Music Box about weird and unexplained happenings around the Great Lakes. We always look forward to his point of view. –Thomas Mulready
