The words of the Beat poets and prose artists — and indeed, words were what the Beats were all about — come to life again via Wordstage at Lakewood Presbyterian Church’s Wright Chapel.
Wordstage is a local performance troupe, featuring numerous professional actors, musicians and other masters of monologue in classic recitations. This one, “The Literary Legacy of the Beat Generation,” summons the coffeehouse cadences of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, Greg Corso, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Leroi Jones, Ed Sanders, Anne Waldman and others. Local musician Paul Stranahan will provide a special “soundscape” for ambiance.
Admission is by freewill donation, but advance reservations are requested. Remaining tickets will be available at the door beginning one half-hour before performance time.
