Holden Forests and Gardens Celebrates Arbor Day

Fri 4/28 @ 10AM-4PM

The former Holden Arboretum, now renamed Holden Forests and Gardens (yeah, those of you who grew up going there will your family will NEVER remember this), is an appropriate place for an Arbor Day celebration, which honors the role trees play in our ecosystem and promotes the planting and care of trees.

So Holden will be giving away one free seedling per family at both its Arboretum location (a cornelian cherry) and its Cleveland Botanical Garden (a white pine) in University Circle, from 10am-4pm Friday, which actually is Arbor Day, while supplies last. There will also be children’s activities at both locations on Saturday and Sunday and of course, there are plenty of trees to admire and enjoy.

In addition, Dr. Kayri Havens of the Chicago Botanical Gardens will give a lecture on Friday @ 7:30pm at Holden Arboretum on “Cultivating Plant Conservation for the Future.” The lecture is free; other activities are free with regular admission.
