Sun 4/23 @ 3-5:30PM

Alarm Will Sound is a 20-member ensemble, formed when the members were students at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, to play contemporary repertoire in all its permutations, with influences from classical music, jazz, folk, pop and electronica. It’s premiered pieces by composers like Steve Reich, John Adams, Augusta Read Thomas, Benedict Mason, Wolfgang Rihm and many more., as well as pieces by group members, many of whom are composers.

When the group plays at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge, it won’t be playing inside but in the adjacent meadow. The piece it will perform, John Luther Adams, Ten Thousand Birds, explores the relationship between nature and music, as it’s based on the calls of birds native to the region in which it’s performed. It’s $20, $15 for conservancy members, $10 for students, children under 10 are free.
